Over the weekend I was desperately looking for something to do with my kids that they've never done before. So, I was googling Knoxville events for the weekend and I ran across something amazing, intriguing and something from my childhood. It was a "Where's Waldo" scavenger hunt!! Yes, you read that right! Apparently last year they had the same event but it only lasted for a week. So, this year they decided to host the event for the whole month of July. So, you still have some time to take advantage of this awesome thing. So, let me tell you a little bit about my experience and information of this event.
There are a total of 36 Waldo's in 36 different Downtown Knoxville companies. I'm pretty sure the majority of the businesses that the Waldo's were located in were locally owned non franchise businesses. Which is AMAZING! I saw so many stores in Downtown Knoxville that I had no idea existed or had opened up that I would easily throw down money on some goods. If I could change anything that I did I would have started the Waldo hunt a little bit earlier because some of the shops closed earlier than we thought. The host store is Union Avenue books at 517 Union Avenue. I would recommend starting there so you can pick up your passport that you will get stamps on for each one you find.
It took us about 5 hours to find 26 Waldo's but we also ate in Market Square and finished off the search with a treat from Rita's Italian Ice. For more information on this event go to Find Waldo in Downtown Knoxville. Make sure to use their hashtag #foundwaldoknox while you are out exploring. Side note: I would also recommend checking out the graffiti art in the alley between Market Square and Gay Street.
As always I am just an East Tennessee REALTOR® trying to show you the ins and outs of the area and answering any questions you may have along the way.
